The Denison Service League was founded in 1955 for the purpose of assisting those less fortunate the in Grayson County area. It is run by 100% volunteer efforts of its members. Since its origin, this organization has been able to give back more than a million dollars to the Texoma area, and volunteers have put in more than 360,000 service hours. The Denison Service League members continually conduct service projects throughout each year, and maintain the Bargain Box in downtown Denison. The mission of the service league is to join together with members of the community to support organizations with the same goal of assisting those less fortunate. The Denison Service League has carried on this legacy for over 50 years, and continues to build strong relationships in the Texoma communities. In April of each year, The League holds a spring luncheon to honor and donate to the recipients of the allocations. Dozens of local charities are chosen by an allocations committee, based on an application process requesting funds.
